How to Stop the Un-Wanted Gas & Water and Improve Oil Production for Lower Costs: The Evolution of Passive and Autonomous Inflow Control
High Water Cut (WC) and high GOR (Gas Oil Ratio) can destroy economical oil recovery for many oil reservoirs. Challenging reservoir management occurs when unwanted fluid breakthrough of water and gas occurs due to uneven influx along the wellbore. While conventional ICD (inflow control devices) with sand screens can delay breakthrough of water and gas, they are incapable of stopping unwanted gas or
water completely. This presentation will review how AICV® technology functionally works and will review case studies in detail showing where and how the AICVs have been applied to stop gas and/or water and improve oil recovery.

Abd El-Fattah has >19yrs experience in reservoir engineering. He holds a diverse technical background which includes being a Reservoir Engineer within E&P operators for 7yrs. Over 8yrs with Schlumberger as Senior Reservoir Engineer; 3yrs as Sr. Petroleum Engineering Consultant and Technical Instructor. His professional experience includes oil and gas field operations, reservoir management and well completion; field development/production forecast plans, completion design & production optimization; Intelligent/smart completions/MLT/Hz completions. He led the Schlumberger Completions Technical Support Team in the MENA for 7yrs and has authored and co-authored several SPE publications.
